Raw materials plant

A future-proof raw material

Collaboration is about combining forces, everyone's knowledge and expertise, backgrounds and experience. This has been our starting point for the development of Kaumera Nereda® Gum.

Every party involved contributes its share of the knowledge and expertise needed for the recovery, processing and marketing of Kaumera.

In this way, the Water Authority, the scientific community and the business community work together on a sustainable, circular economy..

Extraction from waste water

There are more Nereda® treatment plants in the Netherlands and abroad, These plants are not yet combined with an extraction plant such as in Zutphen (October 2019) and Epe (fall 2020).

Research has shown that Kaumera is one of the raw materials that can be extracted cost-effectively from the waste water. Some water authorities are therefore investing in this innovation, so that all water authorities can benefit from the knowledge and experience they have gained.

Raw materials plant Zutphen and Epe

The world's first raw materials plant was opened on October 2 in Zutphen. This plant consists of a Nereda® water treatment plant and a Kaumera extraction installation.

The Vallei en Veluwe Water Authority is currently building a raw materials plant in Epe. There, purified sewage is used to produce Kaumera. The Kaumera extraction installation which will be operational in the fall of 2020.
