Industrial use

Natural raw material for industry and construction

Kaumera is a gel and has good binding properties due to the amino acids and multiple sugars it contains, it can repel water and has fire-retardant properties.

It can also work as a binding agent in, for example, lime hemp, making it an environmentally friendly alternative for construction and insulation. This offers opportunities, for instance to make the (bio-based) construction industry more sustainable. application is better separation of dredging sludge or wastewater by promoting flocculation. By adding Kaumera, we stimulate small particles to form larger clusters (flocs), which then sink to the bottom, for example, or are easily filtered out.

Kaumera can also be cross-linked to make slow-release fertiliser coatings, for example. In doing so, it replaces organic polymers based on synthetic resins or thermoplastic polymers. Cross-linked Kaumera is a natural substitute. Also, Kaumera can be used in various industry applications as it is biodegradable.

Benefits of Kaumera

  • Circular product, not from synthetic raw materials or mining
  • Bio-renewable & biodegradable
  • No competition with food crops
  • Non-toxic
  • Ability to be made available worldwide
  • As a polymer exempt from REACH
  • Favourable LCA compared to many synthetic raw materials

In short: Kaumera is versatile. We invite you to explore the possibilities with us.
